Therese L. Johnston LL.B (Hons)
Therese joined JTJ in 1996 having graduated with an LLB Law Degree from the University of Wales and completed her apprenticeship with the firm whilst studying at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at Queens University Belfast.
Therese holds a Post Graduate qualification from Queens University in Employment Law and is a qualified Collaborative Lawyer.
Therese has also undertaken Mediation training via Queens University and holds a Certificate in Dispute Resolution and Mediation. Therese has a special interest and extensive experience in a diverse workload which includes residential and commercial property transactions, debt recovery, employment, matrimonial and probate. Therese has acquired expertise in handling complex, high value commercial matters acting for businesses, entrepreneurs, companies, organisations and charities.
Gerard Ward LL.B (Hons)
Gerard joined the Firm in 2004 having completed his undergraduate Law degree at the University of Dundee and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. Gerard practices extensively in the areas of Employment and Immigration Law, whilst also providing advices in relation to Pharmaceutical Licensing, Family Law and litigation.
During his career Gerard has acquired extensive experience in advising and acting on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters with considerable experience in providing advices on TUPE, Redundancy, Restrictive Covenants, Severance negotiations, Discrimination and Unfair Dismissal. He has strong expertise in advising on day to day workplace issues to include providing support and advices to HR departments and Union clients in respect of grievance procedures, employee disciplinary matters and redundancy issues together with Immigration and compliance issues such as work permit /visa and eligibility to work in the UK.
Gerard has significant experience in providing tailored solutions and effective Immigration advices to both individual and business clients both within and outside the United Kingdom. Whilst providing a full range of Immigration advices, Gerard has a particular interest in Human Rights claims and EEA/EC applications. Often clients are referred to Gerard from various Non-Governmental Organizations, due to his proven commitment and skill at finding pragmatic solutions on a wide range of Immigration issues.

James qualified as a solicitor in 1960 and in 1964 established his legal practice, which has now been operating for more than 50 years. James specialises in Commercial Transactions, Licensing and Pharmaceutical Matters, Trusts, Judicial Reviews, Wills and Probate.
